Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) in the Early Childhood Program: Discover STEM Participants will discover how to become more intentional about what they are doing. They will discuss indicators of effective curriculum and learn simple guidelines for infusing STEM in their child care program. Planning Lessons That Meet Children's Needs Part 2

Family child care providers will learn about APPLES newly developed curriculum resource, An Apple a Day Keeps Children at Play. This resource provides activities using the Creative Curriculum for FCC Framework and Maryland early learning standards for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Participants will practice writing lesson plans using the resource and their own activities.  Must take Planning Lessons That Meet Children's Needs: Part 1 prior to taking Part 2.

This workshop will look at simple moments of play, exploration, and interaction with objects and people in relation to how infants and toddlers learn. COK: 2 hours Child Development

Planning Lessons that Meet Children's Needs Part 1

Family child care providers and child care center staff will learn about planning weekly lessons beginning with understanding how to provide a balanced daily schedule.  Participants will discuss a variety of ways to involve families in their child care program and how to individualize plans to meet children’s needs.  In addition, participants will explore curriculum resources available to help them write lesson plans, including MSDE recommended curricula.  $FREE

Applying for the Maryland Credential

This workshop will provide step by step instruction in applying for the MarylandCredential. Participants will learn why the Credential is important, the criteria for obtaining the Credential, and how to complete the application process. Instructors will follow up with participants after the workshop to maximize follow-through. Core of Knowledge: 2 Hours Professionalism

This workshop provides an overview of basic health and safety topics including the prevention and control of infectious diseases, SIDS, shaken baby syndrome and head trauma, food allergies, vehicle and transportation safety, child abuse, building safety and others.
