In this workshop participants will become familiar with Maryland EXCELS Standards and will learn how to interpret them. Participants will also learn how to meet level 2 criteria.

Participants will gain an understanding of the importance of daily schedules and routines on Child Development, enhance skills needed to develop and implement high-quality daily schedules and routines in their classroom, and learn strategies to effectively transition from one activity to another. Please bring a copy of current schedule to training.

The Early Learning Assessment (ELA) is a formative assessment tool intended for use by early childhood educators of children 3 to 6 years of age. It is an ongoing process of observations performed by the educator to gather information on how a child is developing over time. This process allows the educator to form an understanding of the child’s learning and development that will assist them in planning future learning opportunities.
This interactive training provides participants with an overview of developmentally appropriate practice, as defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and shares practical strategies for creating a curriculum for mixed age groups of children of all developmental ages and stages. Participants will learn how to implement individualized lessons that employ developmentally appropriate practices.
