Participants will be able to complete a lesson plan using resources provided and their own resources. Participants will be able to connect activities to early learning standards. Participants will be able to identify strategies to plan for individual children.
This workshop is designed to address challenges of toilet training in a child care program. We will discuss developmental readiness of the child vs. the readiness of the adult. Learn sure fire toilet training techniques including celebrating and the power of peer pressure, and begin to develop a program letter or your toilet training policies and practices.
Studies have proven that regular mindfulness practice reduces anxiety and stress while improving memory, learning and behavior. Participants will learn strategies to create mindful experiences for themselves and ways to incorporate mindfulness and yoga into the early childhood curriculum.
Participants will be able to identify components of a daily schedule that provides balance in grouping and a variety of activities and opportunities for children ages birth to five years. Participants will be able to plan ways for families to be involved in in the family child care program.
Throughout the day children learn to share and solve problems and collaborate. They also build friendships that promote positive social and emotional development. These skills don’t all come naturally, some children have difficulty interacting with peers.
Participants will learn how to encourage STEM learning and foster children’s innate curiosity by using the Inquiry Teaching Model. Providers will reflect on what they are already doing and how they can increase their language and ability to support children with STEM learning.

Infant and toddler caregivers in all types of child care learn about Maryland’s early learning standards for our youngest children, birth to age 3. You will learn developmental expectations for infants, toddlers and two year olds and how you can support children’s development in all area.
This workshop will focus on teaching children about personal safety and the many ways strangers access children; outside, at home, and online. It will also delve into tips and skills to keep children safe from strangers.
