Come join a FUN workshop with Staci! Participants will be able to identify the important concepts and skills preschool children can learn. They will also be able to provide opportunities for children to use mathematical thinking skills every day.
This workshop will provide an overview of the MD EXCELS program along with current updates and revisions. Participants will learn the benefits of participating in MD EXCELS and understand the process for participation. They will be able to identify the standards for their program whether it is a family child care home, center based, public pre-k, or school-age program.
The Early Learning Assessment (ELA) is a formative assessment tool intended for use by early childhood educators of children 3 to 6 years of age. It is an ongoing process of observations performed by the educator to gather information on how a child is developing over time.

Participants will discover how to become more intentional about what they are doing. They will discuss indicators of effective curriculum and learn simple guidelines for infusing STEM in their child care program.
Young children learn to sing just as they learn to speak and move-through imitation, exploration, and repetition. In this workshop, participants will discuss motor and music development and experience strategies they can use to promote learning in these areas.
Learn how to provide open ended art activities to engage children and encourage self-expression. Use of a variety of materials will be demonstrated to extend art across the curriculum.
The MSDE accreditation orientation is required for center directors or administrators who are pursuing MSDE accreditation or validation and for those seeking re-accreditation or re-validation for their child care center, Head Start program, Pre-K or Kindergarten.
Participants will learn how to encourage STEM learning and foster children’s innate curiosity by using the Inquiry Teaching Model. Providers will reflect on what they are already doing and how they can increase their language and ability to support children with STEM learning.
